Let’s find out first a little about the history of dreaming. Once you have a basic understanding of the two parts of dreams, you can take the next step to change your life and to change your eating.
Henry Thoreau, nineteenth-century American writer, said, “Our truest life is when we are in dreams awake.” I believe he was talking about one aspect of a whole dream concept. That is waking dreams and sleeping or night dreams being the other part. In our dreams awake refers to the idea that we can become conscious dreamers. More will be written in later articles.
Historically dreams have been made of wonder, fear, and the unknown that pique your curiosity.
Remember Joseph of the New Testament. His good fortune was due to his dreams as he overcame all stones in his path- treachery by his brothers, slavery, and imprisonment- to rise in esteem and power until he was second only to the mighty pharaoh of Egypt. Dreams changed his life.
In ancient Egypt the priests were specially trained to dream travel there by helping the pharaoh rule wisely, and with justice. In the novel the Winged Pharaoh by Joan Grant, she writes what could be a clear picture of early training of a priest in ancient Egypt. The means of dreaming was used by Joan to gain information to include in her book.
So dreams hold us to a mystery. They give power to anyone who can, or claims they can interpret them. Take Elias Howe, inventor of the sewing machine, who struggled for years to complete his invention, but without progress. Until, in a dream, he was ordered to complete it or pay with his life. Now that’s strong motivation.
Another example of the many influences from dreams is the story of Samuel Clemens, the American humorist, pen name Mark Twain. He foresaw the death of his brother who also worked on the riverboats of the Mississippi River during the 1850’s.
Dreams touch every level of our lives.
The other half of the whole of dreaming is called the waking dream. Here is a definition of a waking dream. Basically, it happens when a spiritual influence occurs from the other side or from the heavens. An example is, maybe an angel speaks to someone; there is a prophecy or a visit from a spiritual master. It’s like a spiritual intervention. It can help a person toward their spiritual growth. The key to spiritual growth is understanding your waking dreams and night time dreams by practicing becoming more and more aware. Asking to be more aware is only one of many tools and techniques for you to use in becoming more aware.
Before falling asleep ask to be shown how you can change your life or your eating in a dream. Keep asking before sleep for 21- to 28 days. Upon awaking write a note in a dream journal about what you feel or remember. Furthermore, be more aware of any waking dreams that hold the answers for you. |
